Still, it would be an interesting turn of events for a writer who's already shown a habit of reviving long-dormant pieces of Batman lore. This seems less likely than the other options, if only because we expect DC will want to keep Phantasm as a woman and help balance out the gender inequality of the Batman rogues. Re-imagining Judson Caspian as The Phantasm rather than The Reaper could be a way of giving him a fresh overhaul. It's unclear how much, if any, of the previous Reaper stories still happened in DC's current continuity. He served as the main antagonist in Batman: Year Two, showing the younger and far less experienced Batman just how much he had left to learn. Judson Caspian is the most memorable of the various Reapers, a brutal vigilante who patrolled the streets of Gotham in a time before Batman. And the fact that DC's comic book universe has several incarnations of The Reaper may be one reason why no one has bothered to bring Phantasm into the DCU before now. While The Phantasm is an original creation, her look was inspired by another villain called The Reaper. She's all too familiar with death by now. But where does that leave Claire? Will she seek revenge on Batman and Catwoman? Will she take on the identity of the Phantasm when she does? The death imagery makes sense considering that Claire's very life is threatened when she uses her powers.
Presumably, Batman will defeat Bane in the upcoming "City of Bane" story arc. Unfortunately, Batman recently discovered that the emergence of Gotham and Gotham Girl was all part of Bane's complex plot to destroy him.

Batman has spent much of the series trying to help the psychologically damaged Claire recover from her brother's death. They can become as strong as they wish, but the more power they draw, the shorter their lifespan becomes. Both siblings have Superman-like powers tied to their life essence. The opening story arc, "I Am Gotham," introduced Claire and her older brother Henry as the powerful heroes Gotham Girl and Gotham. Claire Clover has been easily the most important new character introduced in King's Batman run.
